We are connecting coding and data analysis talent with campaigns - organizations that often need these skills the most yet lack them completely. A team of Bluebonnet fellows can help a campaign team understand their district (geography, demographics, and more), identify vulnerable populations in crises, register voters and include new voices in the political process.

There is an enormous, untapped pool of talented individuals who want to contribute their coding and data analysis skills to politics and public service. By volunteering through Bluebonnet, they are able to help campaigns across the country and at a grander scale, lower the barrier to access for new candidates. Data analytics help for campaigns is normally done by consulting firms with high price tags, thereby barring lower-budget campaigns from access to such crucial data and insights.

We have been volunteering on campaigns and training others for the past two years and have seen the impact that these tech volunteers can have. We have also seen the impact that this experiences has on the volunteers, giving new computer scientists, engineers, and data scientists a clear path toward public service. We are also open-sourcing our code libraries, trainings, and other materials.

We need help applying for (c)4 status as a nonprofit organization. We are currently registered as a nonprofit corporation in Washington, D.C. and are recognized in Massachusetts.
