Help Influence 2020 Presidential Election discussion on child poverty (~10 Hours)

Lift the importance of ending child poverty in the national dialogue surrounding the 2020 campaign.

Posted July 31, 2019

CDF is looking for counsel to support CDF’s efforts to influence dialogue around child poverty in the 2020 election consistent with our 501c3 tax-exempt status. An early step in this effort centers around elevating the importance of this issue with a Change.org petition which has garnered over 27,000 signatures to which Presidential candidates and news networks have been asked to respond. We are seeking counsel to guide both these ongoing efforts to promote children’s issues in the 2020 presidential elections and our efforts to engage with specific campaigns related to policy proposals.

Children's Defense Fund

The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit child advocacy organization with a rich history. CDF grew out of the Civil Rights Movement under the leadership of its founder, Marian Wright Edelman and has worked relentlessly for more than 40 years to ensure a level playing field for all children. We champion policies and programs that lift children out of poverty; protect them from abuse and neglect; and ensure their access to health care, quality education and a moral and spiritual foundation. Supported by foundation and corporate grants and individual donations, CDF advocates nationwide on behalf of children to ensure children are always a priority. CDF provides a strong, effective and independent voice for all the children of America who cannot vote, lobby or speak for themselves. We pay particular attention to the needs of poor children, children of color and those with disabilities. CDF educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventive investments before they get sick, drop out of school, get into trouble or suffer family breakdown. We are a national organization with the capacity to work for children at federal, state and community levels across the country. We have our headquarters in Washington, D.C., and offices in California, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas. CDF Haley Farm in Clinton, Tenn., is our home for spiritual renewal, character and leadership development, inter-generational mentoring, and interracial and interfaith dialogue about children’s issues.
