Represent Doctors Without Borders' (MSF) Afghan Colleagues

Help Doctors Without Borders's (MSF) Colleagues in Afghanistan Find U.S. Immigration Pathways

Posted July 11, 2022

Background & Context

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) as an act of solidarity is providing support to our current and former colleagues in Afghanistan who are at risk and seeking resettlement to other countries. MSF USA has received the largest cohort of colleagues, with over 170 individuals and/or families requesting support with finding U.S. immigration pathways. This is due to the U.S. government’s policies that apply specifically to Afghan nationals with professional ties to the U.S. Most of these colleagues are still in Afghanistan, Pakistan or Turkey and have applied or are eligible for Special Immigration Visas (SIV), Priority 1/Priority 2 referrals, Humanitarian Parole, Family-Based or Employment-Based Visa types.
MSF USA is seeking pro bono legal aid from immigration attorneys who can represent and advise colleagues who require urgent support and/or have complex cases in the P1/P2, Humanitarian Parole, Family-Based or Employment-Based Visa categories. These may include between 30 to 40 applicants.

Immediate Problem

Generally, MSF USA is seeking pro bono legal aid from immigration attorneys who can represent and advise colleagues who require urgent support and/or have complex cases in the P1/P2, Humanitarian Parole, Family-Based or Employment-Based Visa categories. We welcome pro bono attorneys who can support 1-2 cases or more.

More specifically, MSF USA is also looking for pro bono immigration attorneys who also have experience with Employment Visas to review MSF USA's visa screeners (40+) and advise on the most appropriate visa options for MSF colleagues in Afghanistan.

Work & Deliverables

Review MSF USA's completed visa screening questionnaires for visa eligibility options for MSF colleagues in Afghanistan

Propose visa eligibility options for Afghan colleagues

Provide direct legal aid to MSF colleague(s) from visa application to visa approval, mitigating possible roadblocks through the process
