HERA
Revenue Models for Nonprofit Services
It will help us create the legal structure for having sustainable income through revenue.
Posted December 29, 2021
Background & Context
HERA helps refugee populations access vaccination and pregnancy care through their mobile phones. Our flagship mobile app is an end user tool that refugees download to their phones to keep medical records, schedule appointments and navigate the health system. (www.heradigitalhealth.org)
While HERA will always stay free to the end user (refugees), we are looking into more sustainable models of funding our work. There is an interest from healthcare providers (mainly health departments) on using HERA in their population.
Immediate Problem
Being grant or donation dependent limits our capacity to scale up in newer countries or cities. We want to create a sustainable revenue model so we can reach more people.
Work & Deliverables
We are seeking to understand how we can create a revenue model for the services we provide. The volunteer will help us understand the legal background on what we can and cannot do as a nonprofit and make sure we create a sustainable revenue model while not any “making profit“.
Preparation Phase
- Schedule a background call with coordinator
- Sign volunteer agreement
Collaboration Phase
- Discuss the potential revenue models (that we prepared) and their legal and regulatory aspects
- Create a legal infrastructure needs assessment for chosen model(s)
Wrap Up
HERA
We create and deploy mobile health tools to connect refugees with healthcare services available to them. Currently we are working in Turkey serving Syrian refugee community with vaccination and pregnancy check ups.
