Work & Deliverables
Juma currently serves as administrator for nearly 1,100 Independent Development Accounts (IDAs) that were established as part of a now defunct college savings program. This college savings program was supported by grants from the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of Community Services and private foundations. We have exhausted all known options to distribute funds to program participants per our agreements, and would like to close all outstanding accounts and use the remaining funds to support our existing programs. Before moving forward, we are seeking legal counsel to ensure we have completed all necessary due diligence to close these accounts. Would you or someone you can refer be able to provide counsel to us on this issue? Thank you for your consideration.
Juma Ventures
Juma strives to break the cycle of poverty by paving the way to work, education, and financial capability for youth across America. Our vision is that all young people have the opportunity to succeed, advance and thrive in the career of their choice, competing in a job market that is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. Our YouthConnect program focuses on low-income transition-aged youth (ages 16-24), who are at risk of disconnection from school and work. Referred to as Opportunity Youth, many of these young people grew up in poverty, have a history with foster care or juvenile justice, and have experienced significant trauma. As a result, they face a multitude of barriers to employment. We make sure they EARN a paycheck, LEARN to manage their money and gain essential skills like responsibility, teamwork and how to communicate in the workplace. Ultimately, we CONNECT them to their next job and set them on a path to a career.
